1. About the clinic

AM Osteopathy provides osteopathic assessment and treatment delivered by Adam Mackintosh, a registered osteopath, in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.

Clinic name: AM Osteopathy

Practitioner: Adam Mackintosh

Location: Church Farm, St Briavels, GL15 6QE

Osteopathy is a hands-on healthcare approach aimed at supporting the body’s structure and function. Treatment is tailored to each individual and may involve physical touch.

2. Appointments & treatment

Appointments are offered by prior booking. Session lengths may vary between approximately 30–40 minutes, depending on individual needs and the nature of the treatment provided. Osteopathic treatment plans are individualised. While many patients experience improvement, outcomes cannot be guaranteed and responses to treatment vary from person to person. You are free to ask questions at any point and may pause or stop treatment at any time.

3. Clothing for assessment and treatment

Commonly, you will be asked to dress down to your undergarments, particularly during an initial session, to allow for an accurate assessment. Where possible, it is helpful to wear loose-fitting or stretchy clothing such as shorts, leggings, joggers, vest tops, or sports bras. Any request to remove clothing will be explained, and you are encouraged to discuss your comfort or preferences at any time.

4. Post-treatment soreness

Following osteopathic treatment, some patients may experience mild to moderate soreness, stiffness, fatigue, or a temporary flare-up of symptoms. This is a normal response to hands-on treatment and usually settles within 24–72 hours. Patients are encouraged to follow any aftercare advice provided during their appointment. If symptoms persist, worsen significantly, or feel unusual, you should contact the clinic or seek appropriate medical advice.

5. Case history & medical information

A full medical history will be taken prior to, or during, your first appointment and updated as needed throughout your care. This includes information about your current symptoms, past and present medical conditions, medications, injuries, surgeries, lifestyle factors, and any other relevant health information. It is essential that all information is provided fully and honestly, to the best of your knowledge, as osteopathic assessment and treatment decisions rely on this information. AM Osteopathy cannot be held responsible for issues arising from incomplete, inaccurate, or withheld information.

6. Consent to treatment

By attending an appointment, you consent to osteopathic assessment and treatment. Consent is ongoing and may be withdrawn at any time during a session.

7. Fees & pricing

Session fees are as advertised at the time of booking or displayed on the clinic website. Fees are reviewed periodically and may be adjusted to reflect changes in operating costs, inflation, or local market rates. Any changes to pricing will be communicated in advance. Payment is due on the day of treatment unless otherwise agreed.

8. Cancellations & missed appointments

AM Osteopathy operates a 24-hour cancellation policy. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged the full session fee. Missed appointments (no-shows) may also be charged in full. Exceptions may be made at the practitioner’s discretion in cases of genuine illness or unforeseen emergencies.

9. Use of ambient voice technology

AM Osteopathy uses ambient voice technology to support clinical record keeping. This technology assists in creating accurate and timely clinical notes by capturing and transcribing relevant parts of the consultation. Audio recordings are used solely for clinical documentation and are not stored long-term unless clinically necessary. All data is handled securely and in line with data protection legislation. A reminder notice is displayed in the clinic to inform patients that ambient voice technology is in use. If you would prefer not to use this technology, please let me know — this will not affect your care.

10. Confidentiality & data protection

All patient information and clinical records are treated as confidential and stored securely in accordance with UK data protection laws. Clinical records are retained for a minimum of eight years after your last appointment, or, if you are under 18, until your 25th birthday, in line with professional guidance. Information will only be shared with your consent, where clinically necessary, or where required by law.

11. Professional boundaries & chaperones

Patients may request a chaperone at any time. The practitioner also reserves the right to pause or terminate treatment if professional boundaries are not respected.

12. Complaints procedure

AM Osteopathy aims to provide a high standard of care. If you have any concerns, you are encouraged to raise them directly with Adam Mackintosh in the first instance so they can be addressed promptly. If concerns cannot be resolved, you may escalate the matter to the General Osteopathic Council, the statutory regulator for osteopaths in the UK, including via their “raise a concern” process.

13. Limitation of liability

Treatment is provided with reasonable skill and care in accordance with professional standards. AM Osteopathy cannot accept liability for outcomes beyond its reasonable control or for issues arising from incomplete or inaccurate patient information.

14. Acceptance of terms

By booking and attending an appointment, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
